(1) Non-conformity - Non-fulfillment of a specified component part, assembly or product.

A condition within a unit which does not conform to some specific specification/ requirement. Also commonly called a defect. Any given nonconforming unit can have the potential for more than one nonconformity

Note: The definition covers the departure or absence of one or more quality characteristics including dependability characteristics, or quality system elements from specified requirements.

(2) Non-conformity - Non-fulfillment of a requirement (ISO 9000:2000 - 3.6.2)
